Welcome!

I'm Kat. I make jewelry, and I've decided to write a blog. Perhaps one day it will get beamed directly to your inbox.

Why?

We all say we need to spend less time on social media, including me. I want to break out of the character limit and escape the endless scroll. I want to get verbose about the inspirations, tribulations, and celebrations of my work. I want to interject with photos instead of dropping them at the bottom. In short, I want to tell more stories, and social media just isn't cutting it for me.

In a few short weeks I will be leaving my day job (!!!), and Making Art for a year. A year! (And perhaps, if I can make any money at it, a bit longer...) So the plan is to journal this journey, and invite everyone to come along.

Things to expect:

• Jewelry in progress, dirty fingers, messy desk
• Finished jewelry, complaints about photography
• Events where I'll be selling in person!
• Lots of parentheses and Odd Capitals
• Historical techniques, at least in theory
• Gemology and lapidary stuff (being a nerd about shiny rocks)
• Space Facts and Ocean Facts, fresh from Wikipedia
• Probably some cat photos
